ABOUT THIS PHOTOGRAPH
The colorized production was a much more time-consuming photograph to finish, but I’m glad I did because there’s a tonne of great details to take in: the 1937 Plymouth P4 Sedan in the Santa Fe Trailways livery, Barnsdall Motor Fuel in the gas pumps (a G&B 176 and Wayne 615 pump respectively) and of course, the garish tobacco advertising from Camel, Prince Albert, George Washington and Granger, the last of which I managed to find from a genuine colour photograph from the same series by Russell Lee. The Coca-Cola sign to the right of the postmaster is actually a thermometer.– Jordan J. Lloyd

Proudly Independent
We are proud to be an independent UK business sharing the stories hiding in images from the past.
Update on U.S. Orders
We're pausing US shipping from 18 August 2025 while we update our checkout.
Due to a U.S. government executive order, all UK to U.S. shipments will soon be subject to additional tariffs, effective 29 August 2025. While the exact amount isn’t confirmed, we expect it to be around 10% of the item value or a flat $80 per item if duties aren’t paid.
As a small business, we need time to assess the impact and ensure we protect both ourselves and our customers. The USA is our second-largest market after the UK, and although we’re confident this will be resolved soon, we are temporarily halting U.S. sales.
