ABOUT THIS PHOTOGRAPH
The Meskwaki are an amalgamated tribe of the Sauk (Sac) and Meskwaki (Fox) tribes. Though socio-economically and culturally similar, they were politically independent until the Meskwaki’s war with the French severely crippled the Fox tribe’s power base. The combined Sac & Fox tribes were further displaced Native Americans west of the Mississippi River following Presidential Andrew Jackson’s Indian Removal Act of 1830, to a reservation in what is now part of Oklahoma. Twenty-seven Meskwaki enlisted in the U.S. Army in World War II. The shoulder guard patterns were sourced from several contemporaneous watercolour paintings of the Meskwaki tribes.– Jordan J. Lloyd

Update on U.S. Orders
We're pausing US shipping from 18 August 2025 while we update our checkout.
Due to a U.S. government executive order, all UK to U.S. shipments will soon be subject to additional tariffs, effective 29 August 2025. While the exact amount isn’t confirmed, we expect it to be around 10% of the item value or a flat $80 per item if duties aren’t paid.
As a small business, we need time to assess the impact and ensure we protect both ourselves and our customers. The USA is our second-largest market after the UK, and although we’re confident this will be resolved soon, we are temporarily halting U.S. sales.
